Local independent superlabel Sub Pop Records has been going out of business since 1988, and its year-long anniversary celebration is culminating with a two-day lineup of Sub Pop’s groundbreaking artists. As if that isn’t enough, all proceeds are being donated to charity. Nope, I don’t know why The Shins aren’t booked. Okay, read on..

It will be the first ever major concert at the 54,000-capacity Safeco Field, and unfortunately the presale is limited to Mariners season ticket holders. It’s hard to keep up with the lawsuits and the name changes and the crazy of The Beach Boys, but hit Ticketmaster at 10 on Tuesday because this show will be a must-see nonetheless.

Wayback English prog-rockers Yes has cancelled their WaMu stop on August 15. In fact, the whole 40th-Anniversary summer tour has been cancelled, due to lead singer Jon Anderson’s case of acute respiratory failure. Normally such an announcement is PR-speak for poor ticket sales, but I have a feeling this is the real deal. Get well and come back soon.

The Raconteurs are not a side-project Supergroup anymore since The White Stripes and other members’ bands are all on hiatus. And the show will not be an intimate affair like their hottest-ticket-in-town gig at Neumo’s recently. Tickets will be gone in minutes for this big rock ‘n roll show.
